Baltimore Is For Girls

I had a girls weekend in Baltimore to celebrate one of my best friend’s law school graduation (and a birthday!) a few weeks ago, and I was pleasantly surprised by the city! We were staying in Fells Point and it was an adorable cobble stone neighborhood. We ate lots, drank a ton, and talked even more. We ate at Loch Bar, Thames Street Oyster House, Azumi Sushi, Woodberry Kitchen, and an awesome hot dog stand where we had pretzel wrapped hot dogs—need I say more?–and we had drinks at Max’s Taphouse and Wit & Wisdom. A perfect girls weekend.

Since this was also a graduation celebration I had to bring a baked good. I brought Belgian brownie cakelets. If you are looking for a “first time traveling with a baked good” recipe this is it. It basically has four ingredients so not a problem to cook while packing. Super easy to transport in a covered cupcake tin, and just amazing to eat. They have a light flaky outside, a dense almost fudge middle, and aren’t overly sweet. They even can survive being dumped upside down on the floor. Yes, after a sleepless night on call for work handling the cover for the cupcake tin was a struggle, but like I said they survived which proves they can handle a little movement during transportation.

We also headed to DC to hang with Mr. P for a few hours and ate at DCGC Grilled Cheese Bar. I had the truffle grilled cheese…and yes it was as good as it sounds! Advice- skip the tatter tot poutine, the tater tots don’t hold up well.
