Welcome to a new series where “the captain” or as I like to call him my dad shares a story from the sky or on a layover or whatever his witty-pilot humor feels like sharing!
Day in December!
I had my first layover in NRT in the summer of 1985 as a flight engineer on the ‘Whale’ (B747). At that time it was a rural village, in an agrarian area of Japan, 85 km NE of Tokyo. Today it is a bustling and booming small city. The one constant is the Naritasan Shinjong Temple, an idyllic and peaceful oasis that is always worth a visit!
